Amitism
A Religion of Compassion
Welcome! This is a website for people who are seriously interested in their practice of religion. The focus of this site is the religion of Amitism, but it can also add a great deal to the religion you practice. Amitism is a faith that emphasizes your personal relationship to a benevolent, creative God, and how you relate to the other people in your life. Amitism helps you express your love for God and God's continuing creation. It encourages you to be actively and intentionally compassionate with God's creation, of which you and all other beings are a part.
This webpage isn't only for folks who practice Amitism, because Amitism is not like many other religions in that it doesn't ask you to "convert", it is not in any competition with other faiths. Amitism isn’t about being a religion, its about intentionally practicing compassion, its about strengthening loving and caring relationships, and its about actively nurturing life. So you can take as much or little of this practice that you feel comfortable working with in your life. But the important thing is to start working harder to find God here, and God now in your life. I welcome you and I hope you will take a look around.
Amitism is a religion of compassion. Simply put, loving another, whether it is God, another person, or anything else, is the most important and defining thing you do. Amitism celebrates this. Amitism is different from most other religious practices in that it starts and ends in the here and now, and it concerns itself only with the central defining aspect of who you are, love.
